So I got pretty excited when I saw my first picture (in a Bliss catalog) of the Enzo Milano "clampless" curling iron - but I was in love when I saw this reversed shape! I have tons of fine hair which is pin-straight & doesn't hold curls very well. It's also color-treated, so it's dry at the ends. I have a hard time with regular irons because the dry ends will hold the curl much longer than the healthier shaft by the root, leaving me looking like a frizzed-out poodle. With this iron shape, the top (healthier) strands get a tighter curl - which makes it stay in longer. The dry ends get a larger curl, which leads to a more consistent spiral (at least in hair like mine.) The lack of a clamp is fantastic; no weird crimps or places that don't get hot when making spirals. The included glove ain't that special - sort of like a glorified grocery-store mitten. You can't actually HOLD the wand when it's hot; you'd still get burned. But you can hold the ends of the hair very close to the iron and smooth them around; just be sure to keep moving! All in all I'm quite pleased for my money's worth - the unique design is worth it alone!
