This product is not good at all. It's such low heat that I can put my hand on the barrel and not get burnt. I do not have hair that is hard to curl- this just didn't do anything. Even after letting it heat for 30 min. I was going to return it, but after you pay return shipping, and the restocking fee I wouldn't have gotten any money back. So much for standing behind everything. I threw it away and ordered the Conair version from another amazon retailer. It was 1/4 inch smaller, but works really well. Go with that.

This is a terrible product!! This does not get hot enough!! Bristles are too short and they are flexible....so they don't wrap around the hair very well. If it heated up to a higher temperature maybe I could deal with the bristles. The tip is the only part that gets hot.....too hot to touch. Your hair gets caught in between a gap at the end of the barrel and the handle and rips your hair out. Also, the placement of the On/Off switch is terrible because as you are trying to curl your hair it keeps switching to Off. It is all around a bad product. The only thing it kind of works on is to turn under the ends of my 2 year old's baby fine hair.........even then it doesn't hold the curl very well. Still not hot enough. I don't know why I even decided to give this a try because I own 2 other Helen of Troy products and I don't care for them either. Go with the Conair Instant Heat 1.25 inch with the 25 settings. It gets really hot.........I just wish the barrel was bigger. I don't understand why these are so hard to find???

Where is Conair when you need them? This item works "just o.k." - not very hot and slow to reach max heat. The "high" heat range is more like "low" on other curling irons. I will use it because it is very hard to find the larger barrel with bristles to hold fine hair.
Also, the $ 8.80 for shipping was quite excessive.

this curling iron is too big for my hair (1-1/2"). I thought I would like it, but I don't. Why is it too hard to find 1-1/4" curling brush wands?

After searching far and wide, I was so happy to find a brush style curling iron - without the blow-dryer function. The bristles are soft plastic, but firm enough to hold your hair as you pull it through and the bristles are effective at detangling. Gets hot very quickly.It is easy to accidently push the switch to off - I can deal with that. I am going to buy another with the 1" barrel and perhaps an additional with the 1 1/2" barrel - I am so afraid I won't be able to find a brush curling iron again.
